It was my first time being interviewed.
How unpredictable life can be! This fellow always walks the tightrope of expectation, and whenever there's a chance, he seems poised to cross the line, doing things nobody could foresee.
It had always been this way; whatever he did was beyond prediction. I remember once, the teacher sent the two of them to participate in an interview program on a satellite TV channel.
No sooner had they arrived than he failed to sit still for even a second! The memory plays out: Shangguan Xiao wore a white long dress, loosely belted with pale yellow at the waist. Her dark hair was swept up and tied with a light purple ribbon. Her face, classic and oval, was made even more enchanting by her striking violet eyes.
Her lips were naturally rosy, her cheeks a delicate pink with a hint of red beneath. She was smaller in stature compared to her peers, both boys and girls. Ouyang Qianyu, on the other hand, was dressed in a suit—a white shirt under a black blazer.
The ensemble lent him an air of nobility. He gazed coolly at those around him, his sharp eyes seeming to pierce right through people. The staff, who had at first dismissed them, quickly corrected their attitudes.
His height, already above average, was accentuated by the suit, making him appear all the more distinguished. When the makeup artists saw the two of them, they assumed they were newly debuted child stars.
Some even thought these two children were destined for great fame. Yet they were puzzled—wasn't today's interview about the experimental elementary school? Why were there two child celebrities?
The teacher proudly led Shangguan Xiao and Ouyang Qianyu into the makeup room, as though they were her own children. With pride, she told the makeup artists, "They are the student representatives from our school today."
Everyone was stunned by the introduction! Student representatives? Not child stars? The teacher gave Shangguan Xiao and Ouyang Qianyu a meaningful glance, prompting them to introduce themselves.
Xiao, cheerful and lively, greeted the group, "Hello, everyone! My name is Shangguan Xiao, please take care of me!"
She then offered a polite forty-five degree bow, instantly winning over a crowd of uncles and aunties. Their eyes shone as they gazed at Xiao—such an adorable child!
Ouyang Qianyu watched Shangguan Xiao's performance, and deliberately teased her by whispering, "Why aren't you telling everyone how handsome your brother is now?"
Hearing his remark, Xiao secretly jabbed him with her elbow. Ouyang Qianyu let out a muffled "ugh!" Caught off guard by this mischievous girl, he doubled over, clutching his stomach in pain.
His reaction caught the teacher's attention. She hurried to his side and asked, "Ouyang, are you feeling unwell?"
Her face was full of worry and anxiety. After all, he was about to represent the school in the interview. But even if he weren't, his health was still a matter of concern for the teachers.
This child was gifted and quick to learn! He was now a pillar of the school, and would surely become a pillar of the nation. To nurture such a talented student was a source of pride for any teacher.
Thus, she could not let this promising seedling be ruined on her watch. The teacher's words attracted the attention of the staff. Xiao, realizing she had caused trouble, covered her mouth and quietly slipped out of the makeup room.
She wandered about adorably, and suddenly saw a handsome young man heading down a side corridor.
