Xiao has been in a car accident!
Fire both illuminated them and warmed their bodies, like a selfless mother silently protecting her children.
The sunlight grew warmer. Yu lay on the lawn, savoring this rare moment of leisure. The height of summer always seemed to induce a certain languor.
Someone approached, the grass rustling softly. Dongfang Shuo sat down beside Yu, the same unchanging smile on his face.
In a friendly tone, he said, “I knew I’d find you here.” Yu slowly opened his eyes, turned his head to look at him, and after two seconds, looked away again.
He gazed up at the sky. Across the azure expanse, a few clouds drifted by, their shapes gradually changing. Some resembled ships, others looked like flowers, and one even morphed into the smiling face of Xiao. Yu found himself entranced.
To love someone is to find yourself thinking of them uncontrollably, no matter the time or place. An urgent longing wells up to know how they are—are they happy, or sorrowful?
You feel an irresistible urge to bare your soul to them, to share everything. Love may bring pain, but if you never give up, happiness will come in the end.
The wind blew on, and the school was unusually quiet today. There was a sense that a storm was brewing.
Dongfang Shuo looked up at the sky and said, “Ouyang doesn’t seem the least bit worried about the training camp.”
He didn’t look at Yu; he always felt that if he did, he wouldn’t be able to keep himself from spilling everything in his heart. Oh, how terrifying that thought was!
Yu replied coldly, “There’s nothing to worry about,” and rose from the ground, gazing toward the school gate.
All the instructors had already gathered, standing near the gate, each exuding an overbearing air that made people uneasy.
Expressionless, Yu stood up, ready to return to the classroom. Seeing this, Dongfang Shuo stood as well.
He followed behind, asking, “Are you heading back to class?”
Yu slipped his hands into his pockets, answering indifferently in a low voice, “Yes.” Just one word, yet it spoke volumes of his taciturn nature.
Only Shangguan Xiao could stir his emotions, could make him talkative. The two of them walked side by side along the path.
Suddenly, behind them, a few students were gossiping. “Hey, did you hear? Shangguan Xiao from Class F was in a car accident!”
Another asked curiously, “A car accident? How did that happen?”
The moment Yu heard that Shangguan Xiao had been in an accident, his mind went blank. He spun around, seized the student’s collar, and demanded coldly, “Is it true that Shangguan Xiao was in a car accident? Where is she? Tell me!”
Yu’s icy demeanor made the student tremble with fear. Stammering, he said, “I…I don’t…don’t know.”
Sensing the situation was getting out of hand, Dongfang Shuo quickly stepped in to stop Yu, worried that in his agitation, Yu might hurt someone unintentionally.
He pulled Yu away and tried to calm him. “It’s all right! No one’s said if she’s hurt or not, have they? You need to stay calm, Ouyang!”
Sure enough, Yu regained his composure upon hearing Dongfang Shuo’s words. He kept telling himself that nothing could have happened to Shangguan Xiao.
After a few moments, he finally settled down. Yu quietly began walking toward the school gate, and Dongfang Shuo realized he was probably going to look for Shangguan Xiao.
He hurried after him and grabbed his arm. “Ouyang, you’d best stay at school for now. Even if you went out, there’s no guarantee you’d find her!” He paused, looking at Ouyang Qianyu.
