A swift swing of the net! With a whoosh, two fish were caught in Xiao's net! The fish struggled in the cloth bag.

Xiao, having trouble holding it steady, shouted, "Hey! Why are you just standing there? Come and help me!" Yu stood aside, swallowing nervously.

He quickly ran over to help. Together, they carried the catch back to the cave. Once inside, Xiao dried her feet.

She put on her shoes and, from who knows where, produced a lighter! Yu stared in astonishment—this girl seemed prepared for everything!

He asked coldly, "Did you already know your brother would throw you in here today?"

He fixed his gaze on her, fists clenched, his heart full of dissatisfaction. Xiao, lighting the fire, looked at him curiously.

She replied in her childish voice, "How could I? I always carry these things with me!"

Hearing her explanation, Yu still felt a bit suspicious but said nothing more. The two sat quietly by the fire, roasting their catch.

The aroma of the fish gradually filled the warm cave. No one could have guessed that two six-year-old children were roasting fish. The night was eerily silent.

A wolf’s howl suddenly woke them from their sleep! Xiao opened her bright, innocent eyes and looked around blankly.

For once, Yu’s expression matched his age. Xiao said excitedly, "A wolf! How cool!" She danced with joy and stood up.

She wanted to go outside and see. Behind her, Ouyang Qianyu quickly grabbed her, shielding her tightly behind him. Xiao looked at him.

Though Yu was trembling, he still insisted on protecting her bravely. Xiao asked curiously, "Are you afraid of wolves?" Her delicate face was full of wonder.

Yu guarded Xiao closely, ignoring her question. Shangguan Han had told him that a man must always protect girls. No matter what danger awaited, he must protect Xiao.

He picked up a small knife, ready for anything. If the wolf entered, he would make sure it never left.

After a tense wait, the wolf never came in. Ouyang Qianyu slumped to the ground, wiped the cold sweat from his brow, and, feeling as if he’d survived a disaster, drifted back to sleep.

At dawn, sunlight bathed the land. A ray of light pierced through the trees, shining on the faces of the two children. Yu slowly opened his eyes, and Xiao stirred awake beside him.

At some point, the campfire had burned out. The two went to the pond to wash up, took along the food they’d stored from yesterday, and continued on their journey. This time, Yu was not like he was the day before.

He began to focus on the changes in the jungle, paying attention to everything around them. Suddenly, a rabbit darted into the thicket, astonishingly fast!

Xiao, excited, grabbed Yu’s hand and exclaimed, "Look! A rabbit! It’s a rabbit!" She wanted to chase after it, and Yu tried to stop her.

But it was too late! He could only hurry after her. Just as they were about to catch up, a wolf leaped out, swiftly.

The rabbit became its meal in an instant! Yu grabbed Xiao and turned to run. Behind them, the wolf finished its rabbit and spotted the two children, racing after them.

As they ran, they screamed, "Help! Somebody help!" The wolf was nearly upon them! Both pushed themselves to their limits, scrambling up a tall tree at a speed they’d never shown before.
