"Heh heh!" That melodious voice, laughter as pure as heavenly music, once again cast the crowd—who had only just regained their senses—into a state of enchantment.
Meng gazed at Han, somewhat entranced. It was the first time she had ever seen Han smile so happily. If only one day, Han’s smile could appear for her, how wonderful that would be!
How long until that day arrives? She wasn’t certain, but as long as she kept striving, her dream would draw ever closer. Tang Meng, keep going! She quietly cheered herself on in her heart.
Her spirits lifted considerably. Meng broke into a radiant smile, exclaiming, "Xiao really is a bundle of joy!" Xiao, who had still been puffing with indignation, widened her bright, expressive eyes and was instantly covered in black lines of exasperation. Pouting, she glared at her brother and Meng, looking thoroughly displeased. “You two are just impossible! Not only did you refuse to help me, but you even dared to laugh!”
With her hands on her hips and her brows furrowed, Xiao glared at them, her cheeks flushed red with anger—making her look so adorable that anyone would be tempted to take a bite. Han curled his lips in a smile, reaching out to gently pat Xiao’s shoulder, signaling her not to be so upset. Yet Xiao, still sulking, turned her head away.
Xiao Ai joked, “Shangguan, didn’t you already accept Yu’s viewing fee? Let’s go pick out clothes together!” Hearing this, Xiao tilted her head, observing her for a moment, as if making some decision, then turned back to Yu and said, “Hey! Don’t forget to pay later!” Xiao Ai pressed a hand to her forehead—heavens!
If anyone claimed there was nothing going on between those two, Xiao Ai would be the first to protest! Their relationship was certainly not so simple. And yet, she couldn’t just ask Ouyang directly. Even if she did, he wouldn’t tell her anyway! How vexing! It was as though a little kitten was scratching around in her heart—an itch she couldn’t scratch.
Xiao Ai was nearly driven mad. The others were no better off; truly, curiosity kills the cat! Though, of course, they were not cats. What a headache!
Under everyone’s gaze, Xiao strode into the women’s clothing section, wandering among the racks as she considered which pieces she liked best. Han watched his sister, making no move to stop her; in his view, as long as she was happy, that was enough.
He cast her a lingering glance, then, taking Meng with him, sat down on a nearby bench to wait. The attendant obediently followed Xiao, holding the items she picked out. Xiao Ai glanced from Yu to Xiao and back again, feeling as though everything was perfectly natural. They gave off the impression that this was all routine.
In reality, Xiao and Xu had often spent time together in the past. Nearly every time Xiao went out, she would bring Yu along. Whatever she bought for herself, she would usually buy a set for Yu as well. During Yu’s time boarding at their house, Xiao had taken it upon herself to prepare all his clothing.
So now, even if someone asked him to buy out the entire store, he wouldn’t hesitate for a moment—and spending money on Xiao felt entirely worthwhile. In the blink of an eye, Xiao had already picked out several dresses. The others looked on in disbelief—she really dared to choose! These were all the latest designs, and worldwide, there were no more than ten of each style. One could only imagine the price!
Even they wouldn’t dare to buy so many pieces at once, especially when they were all so expensive! Was Shangguan Xiao trying to bankrupt Ouyang? Everyone watching from the sidelines broke out in a cold sweat, while Xiao Ai cast a glance back at Ouyang Xianyu.
