Chapter Ninety: Pull Over at Once!
What are you trying to do?" the cold, glamorous woman asked, forcing back the chill, though her expression did not change.
Of course, Chen Xiang was not planning anything serious. This woman was not his type, but a little liberty could still be taken.
He simply scooped her up from the ground. With her spiritual power sealed, she had no way to resist.
"Let go!" she said, her face icy with anger.
From childhood to adulthood, no man had ever laid a hand on her. Yet this shameless fellow, having subdued her, was now doing something like this.
But in this frozen world of wind and snow, Chen Xiang's arms were like blazing fire. In his embrace, she did not feel the cold at all.
Still, that did not mean she would yield. She struggled furiously in his arms, and that struggle only suited Chen Xiang perfectly, letting him take advantage of her with ease.
"Heh heh, I advise you not to struggle. Be good and show me the way. We’re going to the Li family right now."
Chen Xiang did not care in the least about the woman's words. He held the upper hand, and since she clearly held some standing in the Li family, taking her there was ideal.
Of course, that was not the only reason. The strongest reason was that she was a woman, and a beautiful one at that.
With that, Chen Xiang was about to leave carrying her, but his hands remained far from proper. One arm supported her thighs, the other held her back, and from time to time his fingers brushed against soft and delicate places.
"You want to go to the Li family?" The cold beauty suddenly fixed him with a grave look.
Chen Xiang looked down at her and said, "What, are you saying your Li family is off-limits?"
"What do you want with the Li family?" she asked.
"Teach your insatiably greedy family head a lesson," Chen Xiang said lightly, a faint confidence radiating from him.
"Hm." The cold beauty merely gave a soft reply, then said nothing more. She stopped struggling, closed her eyes, and let him carry her.
Chen Xiang glanced at her in surprise. What was that reaction? Shouldn't she be mocking him for overestimating himself? Why just say "hm" and then go silent?
"What, don't you believe me?" he asked curiously.
The cold beauty did not answer, keeping her eyes closed.
Tch. So she was ignoring him? Did she think that because he looked this handsome, he would go easy on her?
Chen Xiang no longer held her in his arms. Instead, he set her upright, hoisted her onto his shoulder, and took to the sky, becoming a streak of light as he flew off in one direction.
He moved very quickly, and the gale pressure in the air was intense. Without spiritual power to support her, the woman was struck in the face by the biting wind, her complexion paling, but she still gritted her teeth and held on.
Chen Xiang had already heard from Li Qin'er about the Li family's strength. Their strongest cultivator was the old ancestor of the Li family, a seventh-stage Divine Transformation cultivator. There was also an elder hidden in the shadows, likewise at the Divine Transformation realm. Li Qin'er had never seen him, and his exact cultivation was unknown, though it was said to be somewhat weaker than the old ancestor's.
So Chen Xiang was utterly unafraid. If a Nascent Soul realm cultivator were present, he would not have dared to act so recklessly. This time, going to the Li family served only one purpose: to teach the current family head, Li Youyuan, a lesson.
Halfway there, the cold beauty finally could not endure it any longer and was frozen unconscious. Her face was pale as Chen Xiang carried her on his shoulder, and she had not said a single word along the way. If not for the faint breath still coming from her, Chen Xiang would have thought she was already dead.
Chen Xiang did not truly want to torment her, so with a rare burst of conscience, he exchanged for an outer coat and wrapped her in it. Sure enough, after a short while, her complexion improved somewhat.
As for the four Nascent Soul realm guards he had left behind in the snow and ice, Chen Xiang had already noticed that each of them carried an artifact for resisting the cold, so he was not worried. Besides, he had not hit them hard; they would wake after a while.
"Ah, where is this place? I’ve gotten lost again," Chen Xiang muttered with a frown.
His mild tendency to get lost had struck again.
A compass was useless here, since this place was practically the South Pole. Moreover, the far south was vast; if he blundered around aimlessly, it would waste a great deal of time.
The medium-grade Void-Breaking Escape Talisman had teleported him to a place somewhere within two hundred li of the Thunder Lake. Originally, he had wanted to find where the Snow-Buried Sect was, so he could determine the general direction and make his way back.
"Huh? Some strange thing is approaching?" Chen Xiang's spiritual sense stirred as he sensed a marked presence rapidly flying toward him.
"Hahaha! I’m finally out, I’m finally out! Freedom feels amazing! The sky is high and I can fly wherever I please!" a clear voice rang out.
In the distance, a multicolored figure was flying toward him at an indescribable speed.
The moment Chen Xiang saw that bizarre creature, he was delighted.
He immediately set the cold beauty down, took out the Coiling Dragon Staff, and leaped into the air. Pointing toward the strange object, he shouted, "You there! What evil creature are you? How dare you ignore traffic rules and speed recklessly through the sky? Pull over at once!"
The strange object was startled by the sudden shout, and the voice sounded very familiar, like someone it was rather afraid of.
At once, it braked, but its speed was not under control. It plunged headlong downward and buried itself directly in the snow.
"Ding! Congratulations to Host Chen Xiang for so skillfully frightening a divine beast. You are specially rewarded with one thousand prestige points!"
A smile appeared at the corner of Chen Xiang's mouth. He had only wanted to stop a passing car and ask for directions, yet he had earned a thousand prestige points. This was quite a profitable encounter.
"Roar! You brat, what are you doing? You scared me. What do you think you should do about it? Pay up! Hand back my Jade Bamboo Sword!"
The rainbow-colored serpent knew exactly who it was the moment it heard the voice. It immediately dug itself out of the snow and glared furiously at Chen Xiang.
Chen Xiang remained calm and unconcerned.
"Oh? Really? You actually want it back? There’s no Jade Bamboo Sword, but I can teach you a full set of thirty-six staff techniques on the spot."
The rainbow-colored serpent's expression stiffened slightly, then it said carelessly, "Forget it. I’m not a petty divine beast. Since this is your first offense, I won’t hold you accountable this time!"
Chen Xiang smiled faintly, and that smile made the rainbow-colored serpent's scalp tingle.
The rainbow-colored serpent said, "By the way, brat, weren't you supposed to be dead... no, weren't you supposed to have disappeared in the Snow-Buried Sect? Why are you here again?"
It had no idea what had happened in the Ice Spirit Tower. After its initial excitement, it had wanted to get out, but the pressure on the fifth level was beyond what it could withstand. Only a few days later, it had suddenly fallen asleep. When it woke up, it could move about the fifth level freely, and it immediately fled without hesitation.
But once out, it discovered that the Snow-Buried Sect disciples were searching everywhere for Chen Xiang. It was discovered as well, questioned by an elder of the Snow-Buried Sect, and learned in passing that Chen Xiang had actually undergone his tribulation within the sect grounds. It was frightened half to death and hurriedly fled the Snow-Buried Sect, only to unexpectedly run into Chen Xiang on the road.
After hearing this, Chen Xiang was a little surprised, but he quickly let it go. After all, once he successfully crossed his tribulation, those elders would surely treat him like a prized treasure. He did not care much about that.
