Chapter Forty-Eight: Look, There’s a Treasured Find Here!
“What are you talking about drilling for? Can you be more specific?” Li Qiner was utterly bewildered.
“Boy, I have no time to waste words with you. I’m going to sleep soon, so I’d better send you on your way now!” the Primordial Tiger Eel said coldly.
With that, it spat out another blast of icy wind, aiming straight for Chen Xiang and Li Qiner—this time, the energy was even greater than before, the chill more intense.
“Well, aren’t you confident, Pipi Eel!” Chen Xiang replied with a grin.
He swept his arm wide, and the crystal flame wrapped around his palm. Although he had tried using it once and found its power only average, he could clearly feel this flame had a restraining effect on the icy wind. Just now, when Pipi Eel spat out that cold wind, the crystal flame within him began to surge.
Seeing the fire in Chen Xiang’s hand, the Primordial Tiger Eel’s little pupils shrank in disbelief. “This… how is this possible? How could you have tamed such a flame?”
“Heh, whether I can tame the crystal flame is none of your business,” Chen Xiang said with a cold smile.
He waved his arm again, and a sea of fire swept out, engulfing everything.
The sea of fire clashed with the icy wind, and a strange scene occurred—the biting cold within the wind was actually being devoured by the flames! In just moments, all the chill was absorbed, leaving only a breeze with a faint trace of coldness.
Watching his precious chill, condensed over years, being swallowed before his eyes, the Rainbow Pipi Eel felt as if his heart was being torn apart. That chill was something it treasured deeply, only ever using a portion at a time and always reclaiming what was left. Now he could only watch helplessly as it vanished—how could he tolerate this?
“Roar! Damn you, you little brat! You’ve actually absorbed the chill I’ve spent ten thousand years gathering! I’ll drill you to death!” the Rainbow Pipi Eel howled in rage, misunderstanding that “drilling” was the right attack after being influenced by Chen Xiang’s words.
Bathed in the sea of fire, his body’s radiance flared, but the flames seemed to have no effect on him.
Chen Xiang was surprised as well. He had thought the crystal flame could only barely contend with the cold wind at best, given the gap in their cultivation. Unexpectedly, it devoured the chill completely! He could feel the crystal flame growing stronger.
“How delicious! Pipi Eel, do you have any more icy wind? Come on, spit a little more!” Chen Xiang grinned at the Primordial Tiger Eel, his cheeky expression so infuriating that even Li Qiner had to look away.
“Spit your sister!” the Rainbow Pipi Eel bellowed, lunging toward Chen Xiang, sparks of lightning crackling across his body.
“So disobedient? Looks like you need to be restrained,” Chen Xiang muttered.
He turned to Li Qiner. “Qiner, lend me your Frostmark Sword for a bit.”
“Alright!” Li Qiner handed him her Frostmark Sword. It was her life-bound artifact—others could never wield it to the same effect, and if it were destroyed, she would be seriously injured as well. But this was Chen Xiang, and she trusted him completely.
Chen Xiang accepted the sword and flicked its blade gently with his finger. The Frostmark Sword trembled and buzzed, as if resisting the touch of a stranger.
“Calm down, I’ll treat you with all the care you deserve,” Chen Xiang murmured seductively to the sword. Instantly, the buzzing ceased, as if the sword had resigned itself.
Hearing Chen Xiang’s words, Li Qiner shivered. How could Young Master Li say something so shameless? And what shocked her even more was that with just that sentence, the Frostmark Sword actually quieted down! Had her sword been corrupted by Young Master Li as well?
Chen Xiang gave the Frostmark Sword a flourish and tilted his head. “Qiner, step back. Soon you’ll witness a fine show: a father disciplining his son!”
Li Qiner nodded, though she was thoroughly perplexed. A father disciplining his son? What’s that about?
Chen Xiang struck a peculiar but dashing pose. Spiritual energy surged within him as he shouted, “Pipi Eel, behold as your father arrives! Four Symbols Ultimate Destruction Sword Art—Summon the Beast: White Tiger, come forth!”
With his roar, a spectral image of the divine White Tiger appeared behind him.
“Roar!”
The White Tiger’s bellow shook heaven and earth.
Pipi Eel was just about to reach Chen Xiang when he saw the apparition behind him and froze in shock, eyes wide. “Mother?” he blurted out in disbelief.
“Pff!” Chen Xiang was dumbfounded. “The White Tiger is your mother? So that’s why you’re such a brutish fool!”
He turned to Li Qiner with a wounded look. “Qiner, looks like the show needs a rewrite—now it’s a mother disciplining her son. It’s all the same.”
Li Qiner was too stunned to speak. Just who was Young Master Li? He could summon such an apparition? If he could manifest the White Tiger’s image, was there anything he couldn’t do?
The Rainbow Pipi Eel soon recovered, roaring at Chen Xiang, “You dare to deceive me, boy! That apparition is a fake!”
Chen Xiang rolled his eyes. “Well, duh. If you can see it’s an apparition, of course it’s fake!”
“No more talk. Qiner’s waiting for the show—let’s get this over with,” Chen Xiang muttered.
He unleashed the Four Symbols Ultimate Destruction Sword Art, White Tiger Sword, striking at the Pipi Eel.
Though called a sword art, in reality, the divine beast’s apparition enveloped him, fighting as if the beast itself was facing his opponent.
“Roar! You insolent brat, how dare you insult my mother’s kin! I won’t let you off!” the Rainbow Pipi Eel thundered, launching himself at the White Tiger apparition.
“Cut the nonsense! How did I insult you? Kneel before your father!” Chen Xiang shouted.
The White Tiger’s colossal paw slammed down hard.
Clang!
A metallic clang rang out as the apparition’s claw landed on the Rainbow Pipi Eel’s head, but the eel didn’t budge, wearing a look of ease.
“Bah! You think with such pitiful strength you can compare to me? The power of the White Tiger isn’t something you can wield!” the Rainbow Pipi Eel sneered.
Even within the White Tiger apparition, Chen Xiang was startled. This creature’s body was incredibly strong, nearly invincible in flesh—no wonder, for both the White Tiger and flood dragons were famed for their physical might. Who knows what means were used to create a Rainbow Pipi Eel with a body surpassing theirs?
But Chen Xiang had never intended the White Tiger apparition to suppress the Rainbow Pipi Eel directly. The real spectacle was just beginning.
“I was waiting for you to come. Since you’re such a brute, I won’t be polite!” Chen Xiang said with a grin.
The Rainbow Pipi Eel’s disdainful look suddenly froze as a chill crept up from his tail to his head.
“Look, Second Uncle! Look, Third Aunt!” Chen Xiang cried.
Behind him, two more apparitions formed—the Vermilion Bird and the Black Tortoise.
The Rainbow Pipi Eel was nearly frightened out of his wits. What in the world was happening? Even his second uncle and third aunt had been summoned!
But Chen Xiang wasn’t finished. He raised his free hand and waved it in front of the Rainbow Pipi Eel’s eyes.
“Hey, look here—a real treasure!”
