Chapter 115: I'll Admit You Defended Your Master Well
The sheer power of that strike caused the very heavens and earth to tremble violently. Any creature with a soul could feel the profound power of creation embedded within the Great Heaven Creation Palm, its ancient and沧桑 majesty stirring a deep sense of dread.
Li Chu observed the situation from within his divine sense. As he felt the life force of those six men extinguished in an instant, his legs could not help but tremble. He secretly rejoiced that he had not pursued the target earlier. Beside him, Elder Li had long since fallen into a deep coma, his breathing faint and intermittent.
While the void shuddered, the young man alone stood there, his face glowing with fanaticism. Though Chen Xiang possessed a Heaven-tier martial technique and was capable of unleashing it, the young man felt no fear. In fact, he found it somewhat amusing. After all, a Heaven-tier martial technique was a treasure that countless sects would kill to possess. His eyes gleamed with undisguised greed. At this moment, Li Hanwei’s warnings were completely forgotten. Under the allure of such a technique, the charms of a beauty were not even worth mentioning.
He was now a cultivator at the second level of the Spirit Severing stage. The gap between the Spirit Severing and Nascent Soul stages was not easily bridged. Even if Chen Xiang could stand his ground against a Spirit Severing expert with his Heaven-tier technique, the young man had his own trump cards. He feared nothing.
"Heh, you have piqued my interest more and more!" the young man muttered to himself.
"Stay here. Do not move without my orders!" he commanded the shivering Li Chu, his tone icy. In his eyes, Li Chu was already a dead man; the secret of the Heaven-tier martial technique could not be known by a second person, not even his own grandfather, lest his own share of the prize be diminished.
"Yes!" Li Chu, startled by the sudden harshness, felt a chill run through his body. Though the sensation vanished instantly, he responded immediately. Without another glance at him, the young man flickered and vanished from the cave.
Chen Xiang was exceptionally satisfied with his last move. Checking the proficiency of the Great Heaven Creation Palm, he saw it had reached 12%. This meant that a single use had boosted his proficiency by two points, leaving him with two hundred mastery points to spare. He was quite pleased with this. He opened his system inventory and recycled the Nascent Souls of the low and mid-level cultivators he had just defeated.
Since he had already successfully cultivated his second Nascent Soul and only needed to nourish it, these gathered Nascent Souls were of little use; recycling them for experience points was a better bargain.
"Ding! Congratulations, host 'Chen Xiang', for recycling a low-level Nascent Soul. Gained 50,000 experience points."
"Ding! Congratulations, host 'Chen Xiang', for recycling a low-level Nascent Soul. Gained 50,000 experience points."
"Ding! Congratulations, host 'Chen Xiang', for recycling a low-level Nascent Soul. Gained 100,000 experience points..."
Rising a single level in the Nascent Soul stage required hundreds of thousands of experience points. This was a source of great frustration for Chen Xiang; at the fifth level of the Nascent Soul stage, he needed 600,000 points just to level up, with the requirement increasing by 100,000 for every subsequent rank. Where was he supposed to find so much experience?
Watching his experience bar climb, he couldn't help but feel a surge of secret joy as he leveled up and saw the bar reach a quarter of the way to the next rank. He then recycled the useless manuals and spiritual artifacts he had collected, converting them into mastery points. These Nascent Soul cultivators had left behind high-quality items, netting him over three thousand mastery points.
He attempted to push the progress of the Great Heaven Creation Palm further, but it stalled at 20%, with the system stating his current cultivation level was insufficient. Chen Xiang complained to the system with great resentment. "System, why won't you let me increase my proficiency? I bought this technique with my own hard work, why are you blocking me?"
"The host's current cultivation level is insufficient to withstand the pressure of a low-grade Heaven-tier martial technique. Please cultivate harder!" the system replied.
Chen Xiang was puzzled. If his cultivation wasn't enough, how was he able to use it at all? The system explained that his physique was superior to that of ordinary cultivators, which allowed him to endure the pressure. Had his physique been weaker, his proficiency would have been capped at 5%.
Only now did he realize how fortunate he was to have the system. Even the Earth-tier techniques he had used during his Golden Core and Foundation Establishment stages were beyond his reach at the time. Had the system not precisely calculated his body's tolerance, he likely would have been drained dry just by attempting to use them.
"Fine, I suppose you've protected me well enough. I won't hold it against you," Chen Xiang said, wiping cold sweat from his forehead while maintaining a calm expression. Internally, however, he decided to be more cautious with his techniques in the future; it would be a disaster if he were to be killed by his own high-tier skills.
As he was thinking, the young man suddenly appeared before him. Without a word, he produced a new folding fan and struck at Chen Xiang with its sharp, lethal edges. The speed was so great that there was no time to react.
But Chen Xiang’s speed was no slouch, and his divine sense was far stronger than the young man's. He sensed the movement before it even began. He instantly activated the third stage of "Three Thousand Lightning Steps," leaving a residual image behind as his true body transformed into a streak of lightning, retreating rapidly. The blades sliced through the limbs and dantian of the afterimage, which then dissipated into nothingness.
The young man was slightly surprised, but only slightly. He flicked his wrist, turning the fan sideways. A metallic *clink* rang out as a staff collided with the fan. Then, his other hand, wreathed in a crimson aura, slammed viciously toward Chen Xiang’s chest.
Chen Xiang was surprised to have his sneak attack blocked. This was his first time battling a Spirit Severing expert, and he was genuinely taken aback that the man had seen through his "Three Thousand Lightning Steps." He couldn't blame anyone but himself for his carelessness; he had never fought anyone above the Spirit Severing stage, and his repeated successes in cross-rank battles had made him arrogant, leading him to believe he could handle anyone with ease.
The young man pressed the attack, forcing Chen Xiang to use his movement technique again to escape the range. The young man's claw swiped empty air, causing the surrounding atmosphere to crackle and explode. Chen Xiang grew somber. If that claw had connected, even with his incredible physique, he would have been left half-dead.
He cast aside his cavalier attitude and looked at the young man. "Well, I told you we should have sparred earlier. You just had to send your lackeys to deliver experience points to me. Look, didn't you end up having to do it yourself anyway?" Chen Xiang said with a faint smile.
Though they had only exchanged a few blows, between masters, that was enough to gauge the other's strength. The young man also dropped his condescension, looking at Chen Xiang with grave intensity. "You are indeed strong. To be able to rival a first or second-level Spirit Severing expert while only at the Nascent Soul stage is impressive. But you are facing me now."
"However," the young man said, his tone shifting as a smile played on his lips, "we don't have to fight. I have a condition."
