Volume One, Chapter 73: A Cold Shower?
What happened last night left Mo Xingyuan with nothing to say. The truth remained: things had gotten out of hand, and they had nearly lost control.
“Mo Xingyuan, liking me—or liking my body—is perfectly normal. There’s nothing wrong with admitting it,” Su Li teased him, enjoying the way he reacted; he resembled a naïve youth, unversed in affairs between men and women—utterly amusing.
The traffic light turned green.
Mo Xingyuan said quietly, “Do you treat everyone you don’t like so casually?”
What he truly wanted to ask was whether she could share a bed with someone she felt nothing for.
“Nonsense,” Su Li retorted with a soft snort. “I like you. It’s not indifference—only because I like you do I want to…” She let the last word trail off unspoken. Changing the subject abruptly...
“God bless, once the day after tomorrow is past, His Majesty and all of us will never have to face that detestable face again!” a nearby noble explained.
Heizi watched him with sympathetic eyes at his flustered state, then poured a chilled glass of water for both of them.
“Yes, sir. I’d just returned to Lisbon from Evora before the war broke out!” Perro, posing as the envoy from the Lisbon council, indirectly admitted he’d once deserted his post.
There were many kinds of flowers—roses alone came in pink, white, and yellow. There were also tulips, carnations, lilacs, violets, magnolias, and countless others. Walking among them, Feng Yifeng felt as though he’d entered a world of blossoms. The fresh fragrance was so intoxicating it seemed as if he had stepped into a kingdom of scents, his mind instantly soothed.
“That gardener? Why would he do such a thing?” Li Jingyun sighed as she gazed at the still-blooming cornflower.
3. Able to command the allegiance of any lord, king, or even emperor; when another emperor pledges loyalty, the primordial aura of that emperor is bestowed upon the master. The one served holds absolute power of life and death over those who serve, becoming the true master in every sense.
“Oh! Don’t do that.” Zhao Yazhi was extremely sensitive at that moment. At Feng Yifeng’s playful touch, she immediately let out a soft moan. Still, she knew this was not the time; she quickly pushed his mischievous hand away, shielding the child with her body, forcing Feng Yifeng to restrain himself.
A thunderous explosion rang out. Li Si was left a mangled heap of flesh and blood, while Zhao Jie, face cold, turned and walked away. His voice echoed through the great hall.
“The leading man? Are you sure you can handle it?” Liu Luanxiong’s first reaction was doubt. Feng Yifeng had barely acted before—being a supporting character would already be a stretch, but the lead? Was he really up to it?
“Director of Military Intelligence?” Shainel was deeply puzzled. He knew that the intelligence chief post had always been held concurrently by Colonel Karls. He trusted General Desai not to slight his meritorious subordinates, yet this appointment left Shainel uneasy.
In the vast sea of humanity, we met because of our resilience, found joy in each other’s blossoming, and amidst the teeming crowds, we hold steadfast to a shared hope.
Everyone watched as the alchemists processed through the center and took their seats on the high platform. At the same time, the chief steward of Lianyun Mountain appeared on the dais, said a few words—probably just auspicious greetings, as not everyone could hear clearly.
Doris and Aklas could not comprehend the information Louis brought, but neither attempted to probe further. After all, the king was present; with him, no problem was insurmountable. For the rest, it sufficed to follow his orders.
Witnessing Li Yu like this, everyone sighed softly and quietly withdrew, leaving the vast barracks with only Li Yu staring blankly at the ceiling.
The craftsman was taken to the laboratory, where a piece of floating stone ore was presented to him. He was immediately astonished, marveling that the Holy City truly lived up to its reputation, possessing treasures of every kind.
Night fell. Chu He sat cross-legged atop a boulder, cultivating his breath. Just as he prepared to lie down and rest, a strange sound arose not far away.
The coat looked like any ordinary down jacket and could be worn inside out: one side a dusty yellow, blending with the wasteland, the other pure white. If it snowed, one could reverse it and vanish instantly into the snowy landscape.
The butler felt something the size of a peanut graze his scalp. Wiping his head, he found it sticky to the touch.
“I will, thank you for understanding, Coulson.” Skye replied gratefully and boarded the Avengers’ Quinjet.
“Though your wound has healed, the pain you suffered won’t pass so quickly,” Liuli sighed, pouring a cup of hot water for Luo Xue.
Apart from the ten thousand or so yuan set aside for the bride price, the family’s remaining tens of thousands would just barely suffice to build a house.
Charles made a casual joke, but seeing that neither Gwen nor Laura smiled, he awkwardly changed the subject.
Below the low wall, strange whistling and violent shouts mingled together. Even before approaching, the bizarre cries sent chills up the spine, filling hearts with nameless dread.
Yet he could not bear to see Lin Yubin go hungry, so he ordered rice cakes and a variety of fruit to be prepared, always ready to feed her at her first complaint.
His face was pale and smooth as jade; his lips, thin and bloodless from loss; under inky brows, his eyes remained tightly shut, long lashes casting twin shadows across his cheeks.
Yu Jiaolong wished she could rush over and drag that man out for a thorough beating.
“Emperor Longxi, do you wish to restore your kingdom?” Si Yukun, his voice still that of a boy cracking with adolescence, asked steadily. The mismatch between his childish tone and somber words made it almost comical, enough to make one want to laugh.
“Heh, you’re just as naïve. If that man had done only what you say, why would I bother bringing him here to teach this red-robed boy a lesson? Come now, tell me—what exactly did you do? Confess!” Frank began to beat Groot, forcing him to reveal his crimes.
The Ye royal family’s descendants had founded dozens of kingdoms and principalities abroad, holding sway over more than a dozen continents.
Gu Qiqi paused in confusion, only to see the car window roll down, revealing Nan Shengxiu’s handsome and sunny face.
To think that the once-famous Prince Zhenjiang of the Wild Court would turn out to be such a man—truly unfathomable.
But unfortunately, Qin Tiange was prepared. As soon as the bloody light surged up, a mysterious force blocked and suppressed it.
Hong Tiexin was shaken to the core by Ye Mu’s Eagle Claw technique. Though the blow missed his chest, it tore through his clothing.
