Volume One, Chapter 66: We Are Husband and Wife, and the Days Ahead Are Long
Su Li could not understand what Mo Xingyuan was thinking. He cared so much about Bai Zhiyao, so why would he have Chi Mu say such things? Was he not afraid of angering Bai Zhiyao?
“Oh,” Bai Zhiyao replied, “then I’ll hang up now.”
“Alright. Goodbye.” Chi Mu was very polite.
When the call ended, the car was once again enveloped in silence.
They drove to the underground parking lot. After parking, Chi Mu was the first to get out and grab the suitcase. Su Li got out and reached for the luggage, only to have Mo Xingyuan snatch it away.
Zhuang Zi’s lips curled into a faint smile as he looked at me for a while. “Siyu should be entering the palace in the next few days. From now on, you’ll have a companion by your side and won’t feel so out of place.” I suppressed my expression, knowing that by bringing Siyu into the palace as well, he likely wouldn’t allow me to leave in the future.
“Uh!” Su Liang’s words left Mu Chen stunned. He hadn’t seen how much Li You’s attendant paid the owner of the music shop and assumed this qin couldn’t be more expensive than those hanging on the wall. When he entered the shop, this instrument was hanging on the wall just like the others, receiving no special treatment.
Ye Zhixing pulled up the surveillance footage and confirmed that her grandmother had indeed visited. She stood before the tombstone for a long time, though what she said remained unknown.
But Wu Gong harbored no resentment over this. His master Zhang Ji was outstanding in both medical skill and ethics, often treating the poor free of charge. Influenced by Zhang Ji, Wu Gong had always regarded serving and healing others as his duty. Tasked with treating wounded soldiers, he found it quite suited to his nature.
Perhaps he was just an impostor, his features merely resembling the real person. He was clearly lying with his eyes wide open.
Guo Si’s thoughts were almost childishly naïve, and one wondered where his confidence came from, believing that his army could certainly defeat Cao Cao’s forces. Nonetheless, driven by this conviction, Guo Si broke away from the units of Li Jue and Zhang Ji and launched the first attack on Cao Cao.
I opened my eyes slightly. Everything before me was unfamiliar, and my chest still ached faintly. I frowned and let out a muffled groan.
“This man is in Dongxuan Kingdom, and he will surely become a grave threat to our nation in the future,” Shangguan Jing calculated silently. Then, with the second move of the Ten Forms of Heaven’s Heart, he swept at Zhu Yuanlong. The massive sword surge crashed in relentless waves, each stronger than the last—thunderous, like a tsunami, utterly unstoppable.
Shao Han frowned. The space inside was surprisingly vast, and he could see no trace of the members of the Absolute Overlord Guild.
Ziyang and the guards on the left called for a million as collateral and entered a hall as grand as a palace. Here, there was none of the usual noisy bustle—only the rattling of dice and the shouts of attendants.
Shattered stones scattered around, and Ao Shuang’s battered, barely standing body appeared in the sight of several people. Aside from the torn fabric at his chest, the skin bore a large palm print, evoking memories of the wounds revealed by Jian Feng in daylight.
“I have never entered the Outer Sky, and the spatial nodes there are unstable and unpredictable. For you, Lord Han, it’s not necessarily a good thing!” Crab Daoist replied in a cold voice.
He called Li Jing’er, but she refused to answer. Several attempts ended with the line disconnected, and Cao Ge’s face was already clouded with gloom.
As Qing Ming spoke, his bright eyes had already locked onto Han Li’s hand, where the Heaven-Grasping Bottle extended its mysterious force—neither quite time nor space, yet something between. He could sense the power of time and space, though it was not entirely the same.
The entire Su Industrial Park entered a state of rapid operation. All kinds of military supplies and resources were continuously sent along the canal to Huai’an, then distributed to the soldiers of the Survey Battalion.
Cao Yan’s face darkened in anger. She turned, intending to act spoiled before her mother in hopes of gaining some benefits.
“It’s all because I care about your safety, intending to stay by your side as cannon fodder. People say a flower needs green leaves to set it off—if you’re courting foreign beauties, with me by your side to highlight you, you’ll have an easier time winning them over.” Following Xiao Sheng’s footsteps, Bullet muttered as he walked.
