Volume One, Chapter 64: Not in the Habit of Keeping a Mistress
She drew a deep breath and lifted her eyes, gazing straight into Bo Xingzhou’s fathomless gaze with a hint of barely perceptible curiosity and…an awkward concern she herself hadn’t noticed, though she tried to keep her tone as even as possible:
“It’s nothing. I’m just…a little curious seeing how calm you are.”
“Could it be Hideyoshi’s plot? Unable to defeat me on land, he’s now attacking by water, hoping to break my defensive lines?” Yoshikawa Motoharu’s mind was entirely consumed by the war with Hideyoshi; he could imagine nothing else.
Yang Shiqiang left only this one sentence before the demon lords prepared to depart. With a single command from Tan Xiao, everyone blocked their way. Fan Guobiao waved his hand, and in an instant, nearly all the ghost messengers—except Tan Xiao—were frozen solid.
The Crow seemed unfazed by the situation, as if he’d seen it all before; though the Bear’s thunderbolts crackled around him, he paid them no mind.
“Saber grass. Its scent keeps those red demons at bay,” Leng Yi said, yanking up another handful and stuffing it into his mouth to chew.
The support, Jella, was clever. Knowing Syndra was coming, she deliberately left herself open, letting the robot hook her in advance.
“That makes sense…” Hao Zhi mused, then suddenly asked, “But…what if Elder Five’s guess about the truth of the universe is also wrong?”
The two fought until their heads were bloodied, yet their faces barely shifted as they lied, rendering their words wholly unreliable.
Now, having encountered Wang Hao in the round of sixteen, he was determined to teach him a lesson, holding nothing back.
He knew that the moment he made this choice, his bond as father and son with Liu Yu would be severed completely.
All delicacies are alike—though he knew little of French cuisine, such things were considered top-tier dishes in China as well.
“Mingyue? No way. There are still more than ten days before school starts. Why are you heading back so early?” Fusheng asked in surprise.
Just then, as the battle raged, Optimus Prime sensed something amiss above his head. Without a word, he withdrew his great axe, gripped it in both hands, and raised it to block. Boom—a massive fireball slammed down onto Optimus Prime’s axe, but it only knocked off a bit of his health. His quick reaction and defense had clearly worked.
Chu Yiyun said nothing, but simply took Loli’s hand. Her hand was astonishingly delicate, unbelievably soft—truly pleasant to the touch. Feeling that gentle warmth, Chu Yiyun fell silent. Some things need not be said; all was understood without words.
At that moment, Yan Yusi had no thought for modesty; fear filled her eyes as she realized, with horror, that the black branches were relentlessly devouring her inner energy.
Madam Feng gave a cold snort and left the room, knowing there were guests in the house and it wouldn’t do to make a scene. But having swallowed her anger for the day, she was determined to find a way to let it out—she simply couldn’t bear to keep it in.
The security guards were still frightened. Had they not been quick-witted and seen those three things in the smoke and dodged early, they’d probably be working for the King of Hell by now.
“No! This can’t be true. Even if it’s the master, it’s impossible for his strength to have increased so dramatically in such a short time!” Mei Xie finally realized something was seriously wrong.
“A good official?!” Fusheng had never thought about what kind of official he wanted to be, let alone leading the villagers to prosperity. Hearing Mingyue’s words, he paused, chiding himself for never having considered such things.
“A virtual item can sell for that much money?” Zhao Na asked, disbelief written all over her face.
Han Xu’s skill startled me. With one use of his silk-spitting move, two red-armored warriors lost their combat ability. This kind of attack thrived on surprise. Han Xu fired off several more web balls, but Zheng Xingfeng and the others managed to dodge them all.
