As night fell, Yu Ting Fu sat at the head of her bed, her fingertips gently brushing over the golden lettering on the cover of the household registration booklet.

“Tomorrow morning, I’ll wait for you at the Civil Affairs Bureau.”

The man’s uncompromising tone echoed in her ears. Yu Ting Fu’s long lashes lowered, veiling the tumult in her eyes.

Suddenly, her phone rang.

Seeing the name Jing Yan Lu on the screen, Yu Ting Fu took her time, staring at it for several seconds before answering with a hint of meaning.

“What is it?”

“Ting Ting, my eldest brother is coming to the company for an inspection tomorrow afternoon. He’ll probably be focusing on several major current projects,” the man’s tone was casual, but carried an air of arrangement. “The project you and Tian Yi are following up on—I plan to tell my brother that it was Chien Xu who secured it. You’ve trained her for so long; this is a good chance to prove her abilities. You don’t mind, do you?”

Yu Ting Fu listened quietly, a fleeting chill in her eyes.

As expected, Jing Yan Lu’s brother had returned to inspect subsidiaries of the Bo family. Jing Yan Lu wanted not only to show himself off, but to bring Chien Xu into the spotlight as well.

And as for Yu Ting Fu, she would naturally be cast aside once they had used her to their satisfaction.

If it were before, she would have agreed without hesitation, even genuinely happy for Chien Xu. But now?

She would make sure they failed to reap any glory.

Yu Ting Fu’s lips curled slightly; her voice was gentle and warm. “Alright, Mr. Zheng’s project can go to Chien Xu. As long as it’s good for the company, I have no objections.”

Jing Yan Lu’s smile deepened. “Good, it’s settled then. Since you’re not feeling well, I’ll give you a day off tomorrow. Stay home and rest.”

“Alright.”

After hanging up, Yu Ting Fu’s gaze fell to the project proposal at her bedside, her eyes dark and contemplative.

For years, to help Chien Xu become familiar with company affairs, she had often brought her along to business meetings. But Chien Xu’s role was mostly to serve tea and water.

Yet when it came time for year-end reports to headquarters, Jing Yan Lu would insist the lead on the project be listed as Chien Xu. At the time, Yu Ting Fu only thought of helping her and paid no mind.

But this project had cost her half a year, countless rounds of drinks, endless revisions, before she finally won it.

Mr. Zheng was extremely particular; if the end result failed to meet expectations, Jiahe would face hefty penalties.

Now, before the project had even begun, Jin Yan Bo wanted her to hand over the fruits of her labor—erasing her achievements step by step, while boosting Chien Xu’s resume and experience.

What a clever game.

Leaning against the headboard, Yu Ting Fu lazily curved her lips.

Do they think everything will be fine if they sideline her?

Jing Yan Lu, I can give you what you want.

But whether you can handle it—let’s see if you’re up to the task.

...

The next day, eleven thirty a.m.

Jinzhou Bo leaned against his car, eyes resting lightly on the sign above the Civil Affairs Bureau, his expression indifferent.

Su Han glanced at the time. “Master Bo, the bureau is about to close. Shall we keep waiting?”

Jinzhou Bo withdrew his gaze, his raspy voice tinged with mockery.

“She’s stood me up.”

Su Han boldly suggested, “Should I go and bring Miss Fu here by force?”

Jinzhou Bo shot him a cold look.

Su Han immediately lowered his head in submission.

Just then, a taxi pulled up in front of Jinzhou Bo.

Yu Ting Fu stepped out, her smile bright as she saw Jinzhou Bo. “Sorry, I’m late.”

Jinzhou Bo stared at her for a moment, then naturally offered his arm.

“Let’s go.”

Fifteen minutes later, the two emerged from the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Yu Ting Fu’s eyes fixed on the two small red booklets in the man’s hand.

“Can I have one?”

Jinzhou Bo reached out to hand it to her, but just as she lifted her hand, he pinched the edge of the marriage certificate, refusing to let go.

Yu Ting Fu was taken aback.

He looked straight into her eyes, a lazy smile on his lips. “Want to keep it for the divorce?”

Yu Ting Fu paused, her lips curving into a playful smile.

“For the memory, after all it’s my first marriage.”

...

That afternoon, Jiahe Tower reception.

Chien Xu stood beside Jing Yan Lu, anxiously watching the company entrance. She spoke uncertainly, “Brother Jing Yan, do you think your brother will stand us up?”

The scheduled time had passed by half an hour, and there was no sign of Jinzhou Bo.

Jing Yan Lu, annoyed by her question, glanced at his watch and reassured her, “He won’t. Maybe something held him up.”

Just then, Yu Ting Fu stepped into the company, heels clicking.

Jing Yan Lu turned at the sound, his pupils contracting.

He strode over and grasped her arm, his tone reproachful, “I told you to rest at home. Why are you here at the company?”

Yu Ting Fu looked at him calmly, her voice deliberately tinged with doubt. “Jing Yan, are you angry? The marketing department ran into some trouble and called me. I had no choice but to come.”

Jing Yan Lu froze, looking at her.

Today, she wore a chiffon blouse paired with a black pencil skirt. Her high heels accentuated her slender legs, her posture upright and poised, her aura composed.

Though she wore only light professional makeup, she stood out sharply.

Realizing his emotions were getting the better of him, Jing Yan Lu softened his tone. “I’m worried about your health. Go upstairs, finish your work, and head home early to rest.”

“Alright, I understand.” Yu Ting Fu smiled, then turned away, expressionless, toward the elevator.

Jing Yan Lu felt an inexplicable unease as he watched her disappear into the elevator, finally letting out a slow breath.

The elevator ascended, and the company’s sensor doors slid open.

Jinzhou Bo and Su Han entered, one after the other.

Jing Yan Lu and Chien Xu instinctively looked over, their eyes drawn to Jinzhou Bo leading the way.

He was tall and imposing, his dark gray suit meticulously pressed, outlining his muscular frame. His steps were steady, and as he advanced, the air grew tense with his commanding presence.

His sharp features struck both of them: the deep, cold phoenix eyes, the prominent nose and bold brow, his entire being exuding a powerful aura.

Chien Xu stared at him, her gaze trembling for a moment.

So this was Jinzhou Bo? How could there be a man this handsome in the world?

“Big brother, you’re here.” Jing Yan Lu greeted him with a smile.

Jinzhou Bo shook his offered hand casually, then lifted his eyes, confirming that only Jing Yan Lu and Chien Xu had come to welcome him. He spoke in a low voice, “I was delayed, keeping your sister-in-law company.”

Jing Yan Lu was about to prompt Chien Xu to greet him, but looked up in surprise at his words. “Sister-in-law? You already have a girlfriend? Why haven’t you introduced her to me yet?”

Jinzhou Bo’s lips curled faintly. “You’ll get your chance.”

Jing Yan Lu, oblivious to Chien Xu’s expression, continued to chat warmly, “Then I’ll have to prepare a gift for my future sister-in-law.”

Su Han stood behind, listening nervously and touching his nose.

When Second Young Master learns the truth, he couldn’t imagine what kind of hell would ensue.

Chien Xu’s eyes remained fixed on Jinzhou Bo’s face. Though she maintained her graceful composure, her heart was wild with excitement.

Jinzhou Bo had spent years abroad, but his business in the country rivaled Jing Yan Lu’s, with even more assets than Old Mr. Bo himself.

All these years, she had approached Jing Yan Lu precisely to become Jinzhou Bo’s woman.

But now, unexpectedly, he already had a girlfriend?

Chien Xu’s eyes burned with desperation.

Only she, Chien Xu, was fit to be Jinzhou Bo’s wife! She would never give up this gold mine.
