Volume One, Chapter 38: Madam Knows That Master Bo Is Actually Lu Xing
He walked with steady steps, eyes unwavering, and went straight to stand before Lu Ye. He bowed slightly, his movements respectful yet dignified.
Fu Yuting’s pupils contracted sharply.
Su Han?!
How could he appear here? And at such a time?
Did Bo Xingzhou’s business require his assistant to come directly to the Lu family to negotiate?
Before Fu Yuting could sort out her thoughts, Su Han’s clear and composed voice rang out, echoing distinctly in the tense living room:
“Chairman Lu, forgive the disturbance.” He nodded again, his tone neither servile nor arrogant. “Master Bo asked me to convey his regards to you.”
Lu Ye’s brows furrowed slightly. Hadn’t he decided not to come? Yet his eyes revealed little emotion.
Su Han’s gaze calmly swept across Su Yu’s astonished face and the frozen gloating expression that lingered there, finally settling on the indifferent Fu Yuting.
Then, turning back to Lu Ye, he spoke with unmistakable clarity, word by word:
“Master Bo also wishes that Chairman Lu would not make things difficult for Miss Fu.”
Boom—
The words landed like a thunderclap, instantly shaking the entire Lu family dining room.
Lu Ye’s face, usually unshaken even in the face of disaster, showed its first visible crack.
In his sharp eagle eyes, disbelief erupted, mingled with a deep sense of apprehension.
His eldest son, always so cold and detached—how could he intervene? And for Fu Yuting?!
When had such a profound connection formed between them?
At that moment, the smugness and mockery on Su Yu’s face froze completely, swept away by the coldest chill. All color drained from her cheeks, leaving only pallor and overwhelming panic.
How could he… stand up for Fu Yuting?
Bo Xingzhou himself had sent someone to protect Fu Yuting.
What did that make Su Yu?
A tremendous sense of betrayal and terror seized her, making her tremble uncontrollably, her gaze at Fu Yuting twisted with venomous resentment and disbelief.
“Is that really his intention?”
Su Han answered solemnly, “Those were Master Bo’s exact words.”
Hearing this, Fu Yuting was utterly stunned, her mind blank.
Su Han’s appearance was surprising enough, but the message he delivered was earth-shattering.
Bo Xingzhou was helping her?
How could he know everything happening in the Lu family?
The living room was deathly silent.
The air seemed to freeze, and only the uneven, heavy breaths of those present remained.
---
Su Han seemed oblivious to everyone’s shock, retaining his professional composure as he addressed Lu Ye, “I have delivered Master Bo’s message. If Chairman Lu has no further instructions, I shall take my leave.”
He bowed slightly once more. His gaze lingered on Fu Yuting for just a fleeting moment, carrying a subtle reassurance, then he turned and departed as silently and forcefully as he had arrived.
The door closed softly behind him.
The suffocating silence in the living room was broken by a cold, ambiguous snort from Lu Ye.
His sharp gaze swept over Fu Yuting like a searchlight, his eyes complicated beyond measure: scrutinizing, apprehensive, confused, and tinged with a sense of offended displeasure.
“Fu girl,” Lu Ye’s voice was low, weighted with unprecedented gravity, “You truly… have remarkable ability.”
She straightened her back and met Lu Ye’s gaze head-on, her voice exceptionally clear:
“You flatter me, Uncle.”
Lu Jingyan’s face was grave at that moment.
How could his elder brother suddenly interfere in her affairs? Last time it was about the company, and now—what was the reason?
Lu Ye stared at her deeply. He did not mention the wedding again, nor the invitation, but merely waved his hand, his tone laced with unshakable gloom. “Fu girl, you may go. Today… ends here.”
She knew—the storm had temporarily subsided.
“Very well.”
With those words, she looked at no one else, her slender back straight and seemingly filled with unyielding strength. Step by step, under Lu Ye’s inscrutable gaze, Su Yu’s conflicted stare, and Lu Jingyan’s fury, she left the Lu family, which had just endured one storm after another, with composure.
She understood—the stone she had cast was enough to stir greater whirlpools in the deep waters of the Lu family.
And Bo Xingzhou, her nominal husband, apparently held many secrets unknown to all.
Fu Yuting’s resolute figure as she departed stabbed into Lu Jingyan’s eyes like a thorn.
He watched her car disappear beyond the ornate iron gate, the facade of warmth on his face shattering completely, leaving only malice and venom.
He would never allow her to escape his control, nor tolerate Bo Xingzhou’s intervention.
He needed an outlet for his frustration.
He immediately dialed Xu Qian’s number, deliberately lowering his voice to a gentle tone, “Qianqian, where are you? I’ll come find you.”
In her temporary residence, Xu Qian’s eyes were swollen from crying, her makeup ruined. Seeing Lu Jingyan enter, she rushed into his arms, aggrievedly complaining, “Jingyan, Fu Yuting must have done this on purpose. She planned everything to embarrass me. And your father… what did he mean by treating me like that in front of everyone?”
She trembled, recalling the humiliation of being dragged out by the bodyguards.
Lu Jingyan patiently hugged her, gently patting her back to comfort her, “Alright, don’t cry. I know you’ve been wronged. The old man is just upset that the Fu family’s shares haven’t been secured yet. The only woman I truly love is you—Fu Yuting is nothing.”
He shifted the topic, his eyes turning grave, “But something even stranger happened at home today.”
“What was it?” Xu Qian wiped her tears.
“My elder brother’s assistant, Su Han, suddenly showed up.” Lu Jingyan lowered his voice, not even aware of his own apprehension. “In front of Dad, Su Yu, and Fu Yuting, he said directly… ‘Master Bo hopes Chairman Lu does not make things difficult for Miss Fu.’”
“What?!” Xu Qian jerked her head up from Lu Jingyan’s embrace, her eyes wide and round with shock, momentarily forgetting to cry. “Your brother… he stood up for Fu Yuting? What does that mean?! Does it mean Fu Yuting really is your…” She dared not utter the words “sister-in-law,” since Su Yu still carried that title in the Lu family.
“Impossible!” Lu Jingyan interrupted harshly, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, his tone adamant and almost obsessive in its confidence:
“Fu Yuting only cares about me. Her heart is filled with me. Other men? Hah, with her aloof nature, she wouldn’t give them a second glance, even if that man were my brother.”
He refused to believe Fu Yuting would be swayed, and a darker, more sinister idea—one that fit his twisted thinking—quickly wrapped around his mind like poisonous vines.
Lu Jingyan’s gaze grew cold and calculating, a twisted smile curling his lips, “Qianqian, do you think… it’s possible that my ‘indifferent’ brother isn’t interested in Fu Yuting as a person at all?”
---
Xu Qian stared at him in confusion, “Not as a person? Then what?”
“Shares!” Lu Jingyan’s eyes gleamed with greed and malice. “Fu Yuting holds a massive amount of Fu family shares! It’s her mother’s dowry for her. My dear brother would never allow such a huge sum to fall into my hands.”
This “bold idea” made Lu Jingyan uncharacteristically solemn; it seemed all too plausible.
“He’s taking advantage of Fu Yuting’s current conflict with the Lu family, pretending to help her to win her trust! His aim is to get close to her and ultimately control her shares!”
The more he spoke, the more convinced he became of this “truth,” his tone growing firm and vicious. “Ha, so my brother, who pretends to be so reserved, has been waiting for this moment all along.”
Xu Qian was stunned, but soon, greed and vengeance lit her eyes as well.
If Lu Jingyan’s deduction was correct,
Then Fu Yuting was merely a pawn for Bo Xingzhou.
Fu Yuting—used by Lu Jingyan, now becoming Bo Xingzhou’s chess piece.
Aside from her family background, what did she have that could compare to Xu Qian?
With this thought, Xu Qian felt somewhat relieved.
“Jingyan, you’re absolutely right!” Xu Qian gripped Lu Jingyan’s hand tightly, her face twisted with malice. “Fu Yuting is an idiot, utterly unaware she’s being used.”
Lu Jingyan clasped her hand in return, his gaze sharp as a poisoned dagger. “That’s why, Qianqian, I need your help.”
“Help you? How?” Xu Qian asked urgently.
Lu Jingyan leaned close to her ear, his voice low and serpent-like, “Fu Yuting surely thinks we betrayed her, and hates us to the core. But with you, she might still cling to some foolish ‘sisterly affection.’”
“You want me to approach her? Explain it’s just a misunderstanding?” Xu Qian understood instantly.
“Exactly.” Lu Jingyan’s eyes shone with cunning.
“You’ll confess to her, win her sympathy and trust. Then you must do two things: First, closely monitor her every move, especially her contact with Bo Xingzhou—Su Han’s appearance today was too strange, there must be communication channels unknown to us. Second, and most important…”
His gaze became insatiably greedy and cold. “You must find out the precise details of her shares!”
Xu Qian’s heart raced with fear and excitement.
It was dangerous, but it was her only chance to rise again! Her ticket into the Lu family.
“I understand, Jingyan.” Xu Qian nodded fiercely, her eyes wild with desperation. “Don’t worry, I’ll do it. That fool Fu Yuting definitely still sees me as her closest sister.”
Lu Jingyan smiled with satisfaction, fondly patting Xu Qian’s cheek. “That’s my clever Qianqian. When this is done, the title of Second Young Madam of the Lu family will always be yours.”
In the dim room, the two forged a wicked alliance.
Lu Jingyan believed he had seen through Bo Xingzhou’s “plot,” unaware that Fu Yuting was no longer his possession.
Meanwhile, in Bo Xingzhou’s hospital room.
Su Han reported respectfully, “Sir, the message has been delivered. Chairman Lu’s face… was quite a sight. Miss Fu has safely left the Lu family.”
On the bed, Bo Xingzhou slowly opened his eyes. In their depths, icy darkness pooled, but his lips curled into a faint, bloody smile.
Su Han looked at him, feeling a strange unease.
He wondered what reaction Madame would have when she discovered that Master Bo was actually Lu Xing.
He truly couldn’t wait to see it.
