Chapter 9: Clearing the Dungeon
As expected, when he drew close, Yibeast discovered that there were nine people ahead, one of whom was the Flower Fairy Beast.
"Flower Fairy Beast, is this the friend you mentioned?" When they reached Yibeast, a tall and imposing man, strikingly handsome—the kind of man who instantly made women feel safe—cast a glance at the Flower Fairy Beast beside him.
The Flower Fairy Beast immediately nodded and replied, "Omegamon, this is indeed the friend I spoke of. If not for him last time, I'd probably have had to start over with a new character."
Omegamon gave a slight nod, indicating his understanding. Then, looking coldly at Yibeast, he said, "Hello, my name is Omegamon. Of course, you know well this isn't my real name. In reality, the nine of us are somewhat acquainted. This time, it's simply because the instance 'Wrath of Agumon' allows a maximum of ten people. We lacked a tenth member, and only after persistent urging from Flower Fairy Beast did we agree to let you join. Do you know why we had you wait for us here?"
"Thank you." After listening to Omegamon, Yibeast nodded in gratitude to the Flower Fairy Beast standing behind Omegamon, then met Omegamon’s gaze and replied with a gentle smile, "I don't know."
Omegamon looked Yibeast up and down, his face expressionless as he said, "That’s because we wanted to test your strength. If you couldn't even make it here, there’s no way we’d let you tag along for experience. If you did get here but couldn’t hold out until we arrived, again, you wouldn’t be joining us. But now, you’ve passed our test. Come with us."
Afterward, under Omegamon's direction, Yibeast temporarily joined their party. Honestly, their party's name was a bit cliché—it was simply called the Royal Knights.
Omegamon’s candor in laying everything on the table actually made it impossible for Yibeast to dislike him. Whether truly noble or truly villainous, it was far better than being a hypocrite.
In fact, the instance 'Wrath of Agumon' was located right on the Agumon Plains, but not just anyone could find it. It was well hidden; unless you got close and looked carefully, you’d never discover there was a path leading underground.
As they entered, an operation panel appeared before Omegamon. The general meaning was that they had arrived at the 'Wrath of Agumon' instance, and were asked whether to activate it.
Of course, the whole reason they’d come was to start the instance. Without the slightest hesitation, Omegamon confirmed, and the panel disappeared. Yet, nothing seemed to happen at all.
“Now that we’ve entered the instance, everyone stay alert.” Though Yibeast’s expression remained unchanged, Omegamon’s face instantly grew solemn.
“Understood.” As Omegamon’s words fell, the other players, including Flower Fairy Beast, all wore equally grave expressions.
Thus, a group of ten people, each with their own Digimon, twenty in all, marched forward in imposing fashion. However, after reaching the end of the corridor and turning a corner, they suddenly spotted five Agumon wandering the passage ahead.
At that moment, Omegamon suddenly said, “Yibeast, Jesmon, Dukemon—you three, let your Digimon make the first move.”
Hearing this, Yibeast cast a questioning glance at Omegamon, but already saw that the players called Jesmon and Dukemon had sent their Digimon into battle.
Jesmon was a refined and scholarly gentleman. Dukemon, on the other hand, was a robust man with fiery red hair—so much so that the air seemed to grow several degrees hotter as he passed by.
Jesmon’s Digimon was a CoronaBeast. Dukemon’s was a Verdant Dragon. Though both were only at their growth stage, the faint aura they exuded was intimidating, lending them an impressive presence. By comparison, Yibeast’s own Digimon seemed rather insignificant as it entered battle mode.
[Small Flame] The five Agumon opened their mouths and unleashed a barrage of five fireballs towards them.
Agumon: Reptile-type, Vaccine attribute, growth-stage Digimon. Special move: [Small Flame]. It evolves into a small dinosaur-like reptile that can walk on two legs.
CoronaBeast: Beast-type, Vaccine attribute, growth-stage Digimon. Special move: [Corona Flame Burst]. Born from the fusion of solar observation data, this beast-type Digimon wields the power of the sun.
Verdant Dragon: Mini-dragon type, Data attribute, growth-stage Digimon. Special move: [Frozen Combo]. This little dragon Digimon dwells on the frozen earth.
"I’ll leave the defense to my Digimon." Seeing the others preparing to attack, Yibeast could only offer a reminder from the side.
After all, Yibeast wasn’t close with them, and intervening rashly wouldn’t yield synergy—in fact, it might even hinder them.
Hearing this, Jesmon and Dukemon exchanged a glance and said nothing, apparently accepting the arrangement.
[Shield of Restraint] Seeing their tacit approval, Yibeast signaled to his Digimon, who immediately conjured a shield before them.
With maximum strength and intelligence, Yibeast’s Digimon’s defense was nothing to scoff at. Its overall combat power had already reached eighty. To put it bluntly, Yibeast could probably solo this instance up to the boss without much trouble.
[Mini Solar Flare] CoronaBeast’s eyes flashed, its body enveloped in flames as it charged at the five Agumon.
[Corona Punch] Once in range, CoronaBeast unleashed a barrage of punches at one of the Agumon.
[Frozen Combo] Meanwhile, Verdant Dragon dashed toward the Agumon as well, launching a series of icy assaults with its frozen armor.
