Fortunately, the glasses were defective, but at least they were still a product from the Digimon Enterprise series, which made data synchronization possible. Otherwise, Yi Beast would have had to create a new account. This time, when Yi Beast entered the game, he immediately noticed that his original login space had changed slightly. For example, where nothing but a window had previously faced the bed, there was now a large box next to the window. Moreover, atop the box, an exclamation mark glowed.
[Hello, Pixie Beast has sent you a letter. Would you like to open it?] Yi Beast instinctively clicked the exclamation mark, and a message appeared before him. After the text faded, two options surfaced: "Confirm" and "Cancel."
Although he didn't know why Pixie Beast had sent him another letter, Yi Beast chose to confirm.
[Hello, Yi Beast. Our team plans to challenge a dungeon on August 22nd at noon. If you’re interested, please meet us at the Agumon Plains.] The letter was brief, but packed with key information.
First, the Agumon Plains were just outside the novice village. In theory, with so many novice villages, unless Pixie Beast happened to be in this one—and knew he was here—she wouldn't have been able to send this letter to him.
Second, they were going to run a dungeon. If he remembered correctly, the only dungeon in Agumon Plains was "Wrath of Agumon," populated entirely by Agumons, with the dungeon boss being a particularly strong Agumon whose combat power reached one hundred and fifty.
Most importantly, the dungeon's minimum entry level was six.
Level six might seem easy to reach, but for players who only obtained their mature-stage Digimon yesterday or today, their overall level would be below four, and as for him, he had barely reached level six just yesterday.
This meant that Pixie Beast at least knew he was in this novice village and that he had reached the minimum level requirement—only then would she have sent him this letter.
“So? Are you going?” a voice came from his watch.
“Yes, why wouldn’t I?” Yi Beast pondered for a moment, but ultimately decided to go.
It was simple: running a dungeon could easily get his Digimon killed, but in this game, Digimon death only meant a drop in attributes, not actual demise. On the surface, it didn’t seem to offer any benefit.
However, if he could ensure his Digimon survived after the boss was defeated, the attributes gained would far surpass those earned from completing quests or grinding wild monsters.
So, if his Digimon survived this dungeon run, he might reach a full hundred combat power. Besides, no one had yet cleared the “Wrath of Agumon” dungeon.
In other words, if he was the first to clear it, the rewards could well push his Digimon’s combat power over a hundred, allowing for even stronger evolution.
When Yi Beast set out with his Digimon, the streets were already crowded with mature-stage Digimon. After all, the experience required to reach maturity from infancy wasn’t much. According to Digimon Enterprise’s plan, it would only take a day or two. They couldn’t possibly expect players to nurture a Digimon from infancy to maturity over an entire month—players would have quit long before then.
Truth be told, by now, Yi Beast’s early-game advantage had all but vanished. His Digimon’s overall combat power had reached eighty. Strength and intelligence were maxed out, but agility and stamina were still lacking.
The Agumon Plains weren’t far from this novice village, but not especially close either. Yi Beast logged in at nine o’clock, meaning he had three hours to spare.
This time, he was using a helmet instead of logging on in fits and starts as before, so he had much more time. He spent about two and a half hours completing daily and mainline quests.
On his final visit to the village chief to turn in a quest, he noticed an exclamation mark above the chief’s head. When Yi Beast clicked it, a quest panel appeared before him, with the title [Save the Agumons] in bold letters.
[A month ago, the strongest Agumon in the Agumon tribe ventured into the ancient digital civilization to challenge his limits. He returned soon after, but the once-mighty king had changed—he’d grown evil and began corrupting other Agumons...] As the main title faded, another line appeared.
In short, the quest read: [Warrior, please enter the “Wrath of Agumon” dungeon in the Agumon Plains and defeat the Agumon King.]
Clearly, this quest could be accepted at level six or seven, matching the dungeon’s minimum requirement perfectly.
Yi Beast had already planned to challenge the dungeon, so what was there to consider? He accepted the task and headed to the Agumon Plains with his Digimon.
When he arrived, he found few players. The Agumons here were mostly level five and above, with combat power exceeding fifty. The players in the novice village, with their Digimon still below level five and combat power under fifty, couldn’t possibly handle this area. Even if several players teamed up to defeat one Agumon, their Digimon would likely fall to the others—a losing proposition.
Yi Beast had set out at eleven thirty, arriving just ten minutes later. Pixie Beast and the others had yet to appear.
However, after another eleven or twelve minutes, he spotted a group of figures approaching in the distance. Though he couldn’t see them clearly, it was obvious that only one group could have gathered here at this time.
