Chapter 139 Loading Leomon
"LoaderLeomon, go ahead!" Watching this scene, Astamon's brow twitched slightly, his face seemingly filled with anger. Yet, in the end, he did not flare up, instead sending out the next Digimon to join the battle.
LoaderLeomon is a Machine-type Vaccine-species Perfect-level Digimon whose signature move is [Loader Morning Star]. It was born when CAD data of construction machinery on a server leaked and fused with the structural data of a beast-type Digimon.
Its mane has transformed into a rock drill, primarily used for work in tunnel engineering and Chrome Digizoid mines. Its strength and durability boast top-tier performance among Machine-type Digimon. However, most of them possess stubborn personalities and a fondness for arguments.
"Mech-Dragon..." On Monitamon's side, before the person who had just issued the command could finish speaking, GrappLeomon had already surged forward, leaving behind these words: "Let this battle be mine. Let me see whether this lion on the opposite side truly deserves the title of King of Beasts."
Since the opponent had already stepped up and spoken thus, refusing to grant permission would surely make them a laughingstock. Moreover, GrappLeomon was not necessarily bound to lose, so ultimately, the request was granted.
GrappLeomon is a Beast Man-type Vaccine-species Perfect-level Digimon whose signature move is [Leomon Wave Slash].
It absorbs data from various fighting games and the [King of Beasts] Leomon, making it a fighting-style Beast Man-type Digimon that crushes enemies with its original ultimate technique. By spinning the turbines on its arms and legs at high speed, it can execute versatile skills, and it can unleash a breath expelled in a single burst from its DigiCore.
Both sides were Leemons, yet neither was truly a Leomon. They were both members striving to break free of the Leomon curse, but as of yet, they seemingly had not succeeded. For, as Leemons, they were forced to fight among their own kind.
LoaderLeomon gazed at GrappLeomon, a sharp glint flashing in its eyes: "I noticed you right from the start. I just wonder if you possess enough strength to make me take you seriously."
"I've had my eyes on you from the very beginning too. Don't you dare disappoint me," GrappLeomon said, his feet moving in an instant as he charged directly at LoaderLeomon.
[Drill Tornado!] Simultaneously as GrappLeomon charged, LoaderLeomon's mane, transformed into a rock drill, spun at ultra-high speed and attacked GrappLeomon.
Watching LoaderLeomon's attack, a strange glint flashed in GrappLeomon's eyes. In truth, GrappLeomon could have evaded the strike. However, he chose not to dodge; instead, he tapped his foot against the ground and accelerated toward LoaderLeomon with even greater speed.
No one anticipated this move from GrappLeomon, not even LoaderLeomon. Originally, LoaderLeomon expected GrappLeomon to dodge the technique, but who could have known he would refuse to avoid it.
"Boom!" Though GrappLeomon was struck by LoaderLeomon's attack, wisps of smoke billowed around his body. The next moment, GrappLeomon burst out from the smoke, arriving directly before LoaderLeomon and delivering a heavy punch to its body.
[Whirlwind Turbine Kick!] However, GrappLeomon's punch failed to pierce LoaderLeomon's defense, nor did it drive LoaderLeomon back. Consequently, supporting himself with both hands on the ground, GrappLeomon continuously lashed out at LoaderLeomon with both feet.
Caught in GrappLeomon's barrage, LoaderLeomon was driven back a certain distance, and a series of cracks appeared across its body.
Observing the battle in the arena, Elena turned to Monitamon and asked, "What do you make of this fight?"
Monitamon countered, "And what do you think?"
Elena replied, "As for me, I naturally lean toward our side's GrappLeomon winning. Besides, looking at the current situation, GrappLeomon holds the upper hand, doesn't he?"
Monitamon nodded and said, "Yes, judging by the current circumstances, GrappLeomon indeed holds the advantage."
Elena asked in surprise, "Are you implying that GrappLeomon will lose?"
Monitamon calmly stated, "Well, don't forget, the only reason he holds the upper hand right now is because he forcefully took LoaderLeomon's attack head-on, allowing him to bypass expectations, close in on LoaderLeomon, and launch his assault. Yet, his success stems from that choice, and his defeat may likewise stem from it."
Elena inquired, "Do you mean that even though GrappLeomon pushed through the initial attack to reach LoaderLeomon and seize the initiative, he will ultimately leave himself with hidden vulnerabilities because of that attack, leading to his defeat?"
"Mhm," Monitamon nodded coolly. "Of course, if GrappLeomon can finish off LoaderLeomon before those hidden flaws erupt, then naturally there will be no problem."
Elena pressed further, "Then do you think GrappLeomon has any chance of finishing off LoaderLeomon before those vulnerabilities erupt?"
"Unlikely," Monitamon shook his head. "Unless GrappLeomon's combat power far surpasses LoaderLeomon by an entire tier, otherwise it will be very difficult for him to eliminate LoaderLeomon before the hidden issues manifest."
The reason Monitamon said this was naturally because LoaderLeomon's defensive power was far from weak. LoaderLeomon was a Digimon that had spent years active in Chrome Digizoid mines, constantly excavating the ore, which meant its defense and attack power were formidable.
However, its agility was a notch below GrappLeomon's, which was how GrappLeomon managed to seize the opportunity to attack. Yet, it was also evident here that while GrappLeomon's strikes were fast, landing blows on LoaderLeomon failed to inflict any truly significant damage.
This scene bore a striking resemblance to a five-player combat game where one tank builds purely defensive gear—boosting health regeneration and increasing armor—while the other builds full agility gear, stacking attack speed to a thousand hits per second, only for the two to stand there trading blows.
Though the speed was blinding, it couldn't pierce the defense; no matter how many times he struck, it was useless. Instead, the sheer volume of attacks risked plunging him into peril. And right as this thought flashed through Monitamon's mind, the situation in the arena finally began to shift.
