In the palm of Yi-獸’s hand lay a gray, hazy orb. No matter how one looked at it, it appeared to be data belonging to Zero-獸. Yi-獸 opened the orb’s interface to inspect its details:

What was being first in the rankings? What was the point of earning money in the game? Yi-獸 realized none of that mattered to him. From the very beginning, his sole objective had been the data of Zero-獸.

"This trip was not in vain," Yi-獸 muttered, a grin spreading across his face—looking for all the world like some vagrant wandering the village.

The Digiegg shattered, and a Digimon emerged. The hatching process was relatively swift; after all, if the first Digiegg had required days to hatch, no one would have bothered playing. The creature that emerged was a Dodomon, in its Baby I stage.

Dodomon is a Slime-type, non-attribute Baby I Digimon. Its signature move is [Small Iron Beads]. Its body is covered in "Mithril Hairs," and it displays an aggressive temperament from birth, opening its mouth to intimidate enemies even before its teeth have sprouted. However, because it lacks real offensive power, most Dodomon end up being killed by other Digimon, making them a rare species.

Seeing the Dodomon, a flicker of joy crossed Yi-獸’s face. Although it was only in the Baby I stage and showed little potential at first glance, it had, after all, hatched from a golden Digiegg; it surely held some latent promise.

"All right, let's go level you up, little one." Yi-獸 reached out a hand, but the Dodomon immediately snapped at his finger. It was a pity that Yi-獸’s armor was coated in Chrome Digizoid; there was no way a toothless Baby I Digimon could make a dent in it.

After the kill, the Dodomon successfully leveled up. Enveloped in the evolutionary matrix, it evolved into Dorimon.

Dorimon is a Lesser-type, non-attribute Baby II Digimon. Its signature move is [Metal Drop]. It is a small, fast-moving Digimon that dislikes being kept in captivity, which is why wild Dorimon are more common. If one approaches it recklessly, it will charge at them. It has a pair of sensitive ears that are quite hard and also serve as horns.

After evolving into Dorimon, it lunged at Yi-獸. Fortunately, just before impact, Yi-獸 grabbed it by the scruff of its neck—though it was unclear if a Dorimon even possessed such a thing. Regardless, this prevented the creature from being killed by the physical recoil of striking Yi-獸’s armored body.

Once it had evolved into Dorimon, Yi-獸 brought it back to Greymon Town and headed to the Greymon leveling zone. Just as before, he beat a Greymon into critical condition and let the Dorimon land the final hit. Consequently, the Dorimon successfully evolved into Dorumon.

Dorumon is a Beast-type, Data-attribute Rookie Digimon. Its signature move is [Metal Cannon]. It has an old-style interface on its forehead, leading to speculation that it might be a "Prototype Digimon" used for experiments before Digimon were officially discovered. It possesses a strong fighting spirit typical of combat species; it is highly instinctual, often biting and roaring at anything it encounters, though it seems to grow fond of things it has bitten at least once. It is said that hidden deep within its data lies the powerful life-force data of the legendary creature known as the "Dragon," giving it the potential to become a powerful Digimon.

Regardless, this Dorumon certainly had the potential to be nurtured. If it could be raised to the Ultimate level, its combat power might not be inferior to that of an Imperialdramon. Even if it only reached its maximum potential as a Champion, it would surely be enough to contribute to Yi-獸’s current strength.

Afterward, Yi-獸 did not take Dorumon to level up further. To make Dorumon evolve again, it would be better to have it finish off more Champion-level Digimon or perhaps even an Ultimate-level one. However, with Yi-獸’s current level, finding an Ultimate-level Digimon would require encountering a hidden dungeon—and one that exceeded its normal parameters—or defeating another field boss.

Since neither could be accomplished in the short term, Yi-獸 was in no rush. After returning to Greymon Town, he logged off.
