Chapter 11: The Pipe Fox Beast S

On the other side, Sistermon: White was in a truly dire state. She had already suffered severe damage while fending off the attacks of nine Agumon earlier and was no longer at her peak. Now, facing a single Agumon alone, she found herself powerless despite her determination.

All she could do was barely maintain her [Protective Wave] to shield herself, but judging by her appearance, she wouldn’t last much longer. The Agumon using the [Mach Stab Combo] attacked her wave defense with fists too fast for the human eye to follow, and it seemed the barrier would soon be shattered.

At that critical moment, a silhouette flashed in front of Sistermon: White, while simultaneously appearing behind the attacking Agumon, striking at him with a sword.

Although Agumon hadn’t noticed the intruder’s arrival, in that instant he sensed a sharp aura coming from behind. With a sudden movement, he dodged the attack just in time.

As he evaded, he opened his mouth and launched a [Baby Flame]—a small fireball—toward his assailant.

[Shield of Command]—a shield appeared in front of the newcomer, blocking Agumon’s attack. Without hesitation, the figure charged toward Agumon behind the shield.

[Explosive Kick]—seeing his opponent rush forward shield-first, Agumon leapt into the air and kicked at the shield, sending both his enemy and the shield flying backward.

[Baby Flame]—Agumon, seeing his opponent airborne from the kick, immediately spewed another fireball at him.

[Holy Stab]—Sistermon: White, witnessing this, hurled her trident, the [Crucifix Barb], at Agumon, aiming to pierce him.

Agumon’s body flickered, dodging her attack with ease. Yet, because he’d dodged, his own aim slipped, and his fireball missed its mark.

[Explosive Kick]—Agumon spun through the air in a full three-sixty, then lashed out with a kick toward Sistermon: White.

Watching all this, the swordsman’s eyes flickered. To be honest, if he struck at Agumon the moment he finished off Sistermon: White, he was ninety percent certain he could destroy Agumon.

But…

In the end, he moved, flashing between the two and raising his shield to block Agumon’s attack, saving Sistermon: White. But because of this, his battered shield, already reduced to zero durability, shattered completely.

[Baby Flame]—Agumon, having just kicked the shield to pieces, hovered in the air and opened his mouth, preparing to launch another attack.

[Holy Bullet]—at that very moment, a beam of divine light shot toward Agumon, catching him off guard and finishing him off.

When the swordsman looked to the source, he saw Foxpipe S.

Foxpipe S, a Holy Beast-type Vaccine Digimon in the Rookie stage, is famed for its [Spiral Barrage] technique. It’s said that the earring on its left ear accumulates sacred power daily, and the amount stored influences its future evolution.

“All right, stop dawdling and go take down the BOSS!” After saving both the swordsman and Sistermon: White, the player who had summoned Foxpipe S—a fellow known as Octopede—addressed Floramon and the swordsman directly.

“Understood!” The swordsman surveyed the battlefield. The other Agumon had all been dealt with, but whether their own Digimon had been wiped out by the Agumon horde or the Agumon BOSS was uncertain. Now, only three remained.

Even counting Foxpipe S, Sistermon: White, and himself, they had only six Digimon left.

As for the Agumon BOSS, a health bar hovered above its head—already down to about fifty percent. Clearly, their attacks had inflicted significant damage. Though its total combat power stood at 150, even it struggled to withstand a coordinated assault.

It’s worth noting that the maximum combat power for Rookie Digimon is 100. Anything above that is considered Champion-level. While 150 is weak for a Champion, among Rookies, such power meant it could destroy a Digimon with only a few dozen combat points in just three to five moves.

[Corona Flame]—CoronaBeast gathered flames from across its body and launched an attack at the Agumon BOSS.

[Sharp Claw]—the BOSS dodged CoronaBeast’s attack with a flicker, appeared before him, and slashed with its claws.

Whether it was the sheer strength of the BOSS or CoronaBeast’s defenses having dropped to zero, the result was the same: CoronaBeast was torn to data and vanished.

Of course, in this game world, CoronaBeast wouldn’t truly die. Still, it would take time to respawn, and after revival, its stats would decrease. If they managed to clear the “Wrath of Agumon” dungeon for the first time, the bonuses might offset the loss, possibly increasing CoronaBeast’s stats. If not…

[Breeze Ice Arrow]—Seeing this, JadeDragon unleashed a flurry of ice arrows at Agumon.

[Baby Flame]—Agumon opened his mouth and launched a fireball that swallowed the ice arrows and then JadeDragon himself, eliminating yet another Digimon.

[Rockbreaker Claw]—simultaneously, KielBeast struck at Agumon with a powerful claw.

[Explosive Kick]—despite just attacking, Agumon dodged nimbly and kicked at KielBeast.

[Protective Wave]—at that moment, Sistermon: White’s defense finally arrived. However, perhaps due to her depleted energy, her shield failed to block the blow. Or perhaps Agumon’s attack was simply too strong and broke through her defense.

In any case, the shield only delayed the attack for a moment before Agumon kicked at KielBeast once more.
