Chapter 135: Stand Up
Lu Feng removed the remaining acupuncture needles, leaving only those in the Xuehai and Yinlingquan acupoints.
Mr. Liang’s condition was caused by a blockage in his meridians due to a recurring old injury. Under normal medical treatment, one would need to perform the "Burning Mountain Fire" technique every three days to gradually clear the obstruction, a process that would take a full month to heal. However, Lu Feng had promised to cure Mr. Liang within an hour, which required using his own internal energy to forcefully clear the blocked meridians. Since this required internal energy, Su Muyu could not learn it yet, so Lu Feng proceeded with the treatment without further explanation.
Lu Feng channeled his internal energy into his fingertips and pressed them onto Mr. Liang’s Yinlingquan acupoint, slowly pushing toward the Xuehai acupoint. Mr. Liang immediately felt an intense pain in his leg, as if a force were tearing through his flesh and carving a channel through his meridians, inch by inch.
"Ah!" Mr. Liang groaned in pain and reached out to stop him, but Lu Feng was prepared. He precisely inserted an acupuncture needle into an acupoint on Mr. Liang’s arm, rendering him unable to move.
"What are you doing!" Hearing Mr. Liang’s cry of pain, Wang Shunyi immediately tried to intervene. He had begun to realize that Lu Feng wasn't just putting on a show but was truly treating the patient, and he was terrified that if Lu Feng succeeded, he would lose all face.
Lu Feng didn't dodge when Wang Shunyi reached for him, allowing him to lunge forward. Wang Shunyi grabbed Lu Feng’s shoulder, intending to pull him away, but as soon as his palm touched Lu Feng’s shoulder, he felt a powerful, domineering force erupt, sending him staggering back three steps with a numb hand. This was the "Eighteen Falls" technique from internal martial arts. Lu Feng, distracted by the treatment, hadn't used his full strength; otherwise, Wang Shunyi would have been sent flying.
Lu Feng quickly cleared the meridians in Mr. Liang’s legs, pulled out the final four needles, grabbed Mr. Liang’s hands to help him up, and said, "Take a couple of steps."
Mr. Liang’s legs felt weak, and he nearly fell, only standing firmly with Lu Feng’s support. He had expected the act of standing to be excruciatingly painful, but in reality, there was no sharp pain—only a slight soreness from prolonged inactivity. To his amazement, the sensation of powerlessness in his legs had vanished.
"I... I think I can actually walk," Mr. Liang said, unable to believe it.
Lu Feng let go, allowing him to stand on his own.
"Heh... hehe..." Mr. Liang looked at his legs standing on the floor, laughing in excitement and disbelief. "It really feels like I can walk..."
"Take a few steps," Lu Feng urged.
Mr. Liang obeyed, taking a step. He stumbled slightly, a result of muscle atrophy from long-term immobility. "I can really walk! The pain is gone! It’s gone!" he shouted excitedly.
The medical students in the therapy room stared with wide eyes at Mr. Liang’s ecstatic expression, their faces showing a mix of reactions as they whispered among themselves. Among everyone present, Wang Shunyi’s expression was the most dramatic, shifting from red to white.
"Impossible! How can this be!" Refusing to accept it, Wang Shunyi rushed forward and grabbed Mr. Liang’s wrist to check his pulse.
"Dr. Wang, I’m truly healed! My legs don't hurt anymore, and I can stand," Mr. Liang said, too happy and grateful to care about the look on Wang Shunyi's face.
Unwilling to admit defeat, Wang Shunyi glared at Lu Feng suspiciously. "You must have given him painkillers! It has to be, or he wouldn't be able to stand."
Lu Feng shook his head and smiled. "You are truly deluding yourself. Painkillers can mask pain, but they have no effect on muscle weakness. Mr. Liang is walking on his own now—do you think that’s something a patient with muscle atrophy could do?"
Even though Wang Shunyi refused to believe it, he had no choice but to face the facts, and he could only glare at Lu Feng in fury.
Ignoring his murderous gaze, Lu Feng said, "I said before, your level of medical skill does not qualify you to teach Muyu. From now on, do not show up to lecture whenever she is present. Also, Muyu’s final grade must be perfect. See that you remember that!"
Wang Shunyi was so angry that his eyes seemed to spew fire and his hair stood on end. He pointed a trembling finger at Lu Feng, hissing, "You arrogant, insolent brat!"
"I am not arrogant; I simply possess the backbone that matches my medical skill," Lu Feng retorted firmly and confidently. "It is you who are arrogant, blindly assuming your diagnosis was correct and delaying the patient's recovery for half a year. You have no real ability, yet you insist on being a professor, ruining the students you teach!"
"You! You!" Wang Shunyi was trembling with rage. Looking at the surrounding students, he felt as if every pair of eyes was mocking him. His carefully maintained professorial composure collapsed, and with an angry snort, he flicked his sleeves and stormed off.
With the patient cured, Lu Feng saw no reason to stay. He reached out to take Su Muyu’s hand and said, "I'll take you home."
Seeing the professor leave, several male students immediately slipped away to play games. The more studious ones crowded around Mr. Liang to ask about his condition. Two female students caught up with Lu Feng and Su Muyu, leaning in to ask curiously, "Su Muyu, who is he? His medical skills are incredible! Is Mr. Liang’s leg really healed?"
Su Muyu glanced at Lu Feng and whispered to her classmates, "He is my senior; he has studied medicine since he was a child."
"You are so lucky! Can we follow your senior after we graduate? It's so hard to make it in the medical field without a mentor," the two girls said.
Su Muyu frowned. "He doesn't work in a hospital, and he hasn't even been certified as a physician. I don't think he can help you."
"How can that be? Someone this talented isn't certified? The medical circle is too hard to break into," the girls muttered.
One of the more lively and somewhat infatuated girls asked, "Does your senior have a girlfriend?"
The other girl rolled her eyes. "Didn't you see him holding hands with Su Muyu?"
The lively girl refused to give up. "Maybe they're just like brother and sister."
Su Muyu smiled awkwardly, unable to jump into that conversation. The lively girl left her companion, walked up to Lu Feng, and boldly asked, "Could I have your number?"
Lu Feng casually pulled out a business card for Yun'an and handed it to her. "Here is my card."
...
Outside the parking lot, the lively girl clutched the card, watching the car drive away with a lovestruck look on her face. "His medical skills are so high, and he's so handsome..."
"Stop daydreaming," her friend said, poking her in the waist.
"What do you mean daydreaming? Didn't you see him give me his number?" the girl retorted, frowning.
"Look closer. That’s a landline number on the card—it's clearly the front desk of a company. You’re overthinking it," her friend replied bluntly.
"Hmph! You’re just jealous of me!"
