Chapter 141: The Revolution Is Not Yet Victorious

It was enough to make anyone green with envy.
The sweet young man was exceptionally handsome. When he smiled, he looked adorably boyish, complete with a pair of dimples.
He looked like the male lead in a comic.
Yet sometimes, while waiting for Jiang Ciyou to finish a meeting or end her livestream, he would sit there reading attentively—or simply staring into space.
At times like that, he seemed to exude an air of refined elegance, like a pampered young master from a wealthy family.
And that was not all.
The sweet young man was considerate as well, often bringing flowers and heart-shaped lunchboxes he had made himself.
He made everyone around them burn with envy.
Of course, everyone could tell that he was pursuing Jiang Ciyou, while Jiang Ciyou had apparently yet to accept him.
Every time she saw him coming, she avoided him as though her life depended on it.
Whenever he showed up, everyone would tease him.
“Xiaobai, did you manage to win over your older sister today?”
The sweet young man would always flash a radiant smile, revealing a row of pearly white teeth.
“The revolution has not yet succeeded. Your comrade is still working hard.”
Who could resist such an honest, sincere, sunny—and, most importantly, extraordinarily handsome—young man?
Jiang Ciyou could.
Jiang Ciyou was so troubled that handfuls of hair seemed to fall from her head every day.
Whenever she saw Shen Yibai, she reacted as though she had seen a ghost, fleeing as far from him as possible.
Jiang Ciyou simply could not understand it.
Why did Shen Yibai like her?
From his perspective, she was older than him and had even been divorced.
As expected, a genuinely rich heir knew nothing of the ways of the world.
Jiang Ciyou had rejected him again and again, yet the young man only seemed to grow bolder with every setback.
She was thoroughly exasperated.
The moment she ended her livestream that day, she saw Shen Yibai waiting outside.
Jiang Ciyou clenched her fingers.
She was already wondering whether beating him up viciously would finally bring him to his senses and make him give up.
Shen Yibai spotted her too and hurried to his feet, walking toward her.
At that moment, Tang Fei also emerged from the office.
“Ciyou, I need to discuss something urgent with you.”
In order to evade Shen Yibai, Jiang Ciyou grabbed Tang Fei and pulled him away.
Tang Fei looked utterly bewildered.
After taking several twists and turns, Jiang Ciyou finally dragged him into a stairwell.

At last, she had managed to shake off Shen Yibai.
“Ciyou, dragging me around in broad daylight—if someone sees us, they’ll think we’re secret lovers.”
Jiang Ciyou released Tang Fei and smiled sweetly.
“Director, are you flirting with me?”
Tang Fei hurriedly shook his head and waved both hands, smiling apologetically. Even his little mustache bounced with the motion.
“I was only joking. Don’t take it seriously. I actually need a favor from you.”
Jiang Ciyou was practically a living deity at their television station now.
Rongtai Television was no longer the same station it had once been.
Although the news had yet to be made public, the situation was already more or less settled. Rongtai would soon be acquired by Jinghua Media.
And the reason Jinghua Media had suddenly decided to acquire Rongtai might very well have been Jiang Ciyou.
Naturally, after Bo Wanhua agreed to the acquisition, she would also help Rongtai go public and grant it a substantial share allocation.
As a result, Tang Fei had long since sworn allegiance to Bo Wanhua.
“What is it?”
Jiang Ciyou furrowed her brows slightly, instinctively sensing that this was not going to be good news.
Tang Fei wore an uncertain expression.
“Here’s the situation. Regarding the variety show you’ve been coordinating with, Jinghua Television says that one of the female guests they had originally confirmed—and had been negotiating with for some time—can no longer join the production because of a scheduling conflict. They want us to send someone to replace her.”
Tang Fei watched Jiang Ciyou’s expression carefully.
“The station director and I discussed it, and we decided that you should take her place and participate in Director Xie’s new variety show.”
Jiang Ciyou knitted her brows, appearing to weigh the matter.
“Ciyou, I know you have concerns. After all, you’re not an entertainer and haven’t appeared on many variety shows. But you are a host, which makes you a public figure. Your popularity is no lower than that of the minor celebrities in the entertainment industry.”
“Besides, only four guests have been confirmed so far. Director Xie is deliberately looking for several ordinary people to fill the remaining spots. You could completely overshadow them.”
Jiang Ciyou felt that this variety show sounded like a joke.
Filming was about to begin, yet only four of the eight guests had been finalized.
She suspected that the remaining four negotiations had all fallen through, and that the production team was now frantically searching for replacements.
“It’s just a tropical-island vacation show. Think of it as a company-paid trip. You can relax, take a vacation, and clear your mind.”
When Jiang Ciyou remained silent, Tang Fei grew increasingly anxious.
His task was to persuade Jiang Ciyou to join the show.
But after knowing her for so long, he understood that she was not someone who could easily be manipulated.
If she did not want to do something, no amount of persuasion would work.
Tang Fei continued cautiously, “Ciyou, do you have some concern? If there’s anything troubling you—”
“I’ll go. I’ll do it!”
Jiang Ciyou suddenly spoke.
Tang Fei was caught off guard.
Why was she being so agreeable today?
He had barely even begun to deploy his powers of persuasion.

Jiang Ciyou smiled.
“Director, I’ll go. The production team starts filming tomorrow, right? I’ll go home and pack my luggage now.”
Tang Fei stared at her in astonishment, momentarily at a loss for words.
“Director, is there anything else?”
Tang Fei shook his head.
“No, that’s all.”
Jiang Ciyou patted him on the shoulder.
“Then I’ll go home and get ready.”
Jiang Ciyou left the stairwell first.
Tang Fei stood there in a daze for a moment before finally reacting. The smile between his brows could no longer be concealed.
He quickly made a phone call to report the situation.
“Chairwoman, it worked. I’ve taken care of what you instructed. She agreed to join the show.”
After ending the call, Tang Fei remained delighted for a while before leaving as well.
Once he was gone, a head emerged from the floor above.
Shen Yibai had been looking for Jiang Ciyou but had failed to find her.
The fact that she could so easily avoid him left him deeply dejected.
He had pushed open a random emergency exit and sat down on the stairs in gloomy despair.
But not long afterward, he heard the emergency door on the floor below open.
Then he heard Jiang Ciyou and Tang Fei talking.
Tang Fei wanted Jiang Ciyou to participate in a new variety show?
That, in itself, was not particularly strange.
What was strange was the phone call Tang Fei made afterward.
Shen Yibai had an inexplicable feeling that someone was plotting against Jiang Ciyou.
The handsome young man’s expression turned solemn.
He thought back over the information Tang Fei had mentioned.
Director Xie’s new variety show?
As it happened, he knew Xie Ming.
Two years earlier, when Xie Ming had gone to France to shoot a promotional film for a luxury brand, one of the models had thrown a tantrum and acted like a diva. Shen Yibai had stepped in at the critical moment and helped resolve the crisis.
Because of Xie Ming, he had also managed to get one foot into the modeling world.
At the time, Xie Ming had said that he owed him a favor, but afterward they had never been in touch again.
Fortunately, Shen Yibai had kept his contact information.
He picked up his phone and dialed a number...
Meanwhile.
Bo Jinxiu was also on the phone.
The call was from Shen Qingqing.
“Fourth Uncle, please don’t be angry. I really didn’t know this variety show was produced by Jinghua Media. When the production team invited me, they said that you would be invited to participate in the filming as well, so I agreed.”
Shen Qingqing asked cautiously, “Didn’t the production team really invite you?”
